With 21 selling truckloads of copies around the world, Adele is clearly the reigning pop queen this year, especially here in the States. And, hooray — looks like she finally got her voice back, as the London diva celebrated her hometown’s Gay Pride weekend by taking the stage at Heaven and performing a trio of jams off her latest multi-Platinum LP. She also discussed her next album with Q magazine, which she says she wants to be more “acoustic and piano-led.” Roll below!
MTV UK rounded up some of 23-year-old Adele’s quotes from the upcoming issue of Q:
“I’ve accumulated some things to write about again. I’d go into the studio tomorrow if I could. It won’t be a big production. I want it to be quite acoustic and piano-led. I want to write it, record it, producer it all and master it on my own. I think it’ll take a lot longer because I want to do it this way. When I move house in the summer, my sound engineer is going to come and help me install a studio and teach me how to use it.”
Interesting. Adele worked with a variety of big-name writers and producers on 21, including Fraser T. Smith, Ryan Tedder, Rick Rubin and, of course, Paul Epworth, who was behind the boards for her smash “Rolling In The Deep,” a single that recently relinquished control of the Billboard Hot 100 to Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything” after a seven-week run at #1. (Both songs are in our Song Of Summer 2011 poll. Have you voted yet?)
For a taste of of the singer doing more acoustic-sounding material, check out “If It Hadn’t Been For Love.”
